Been doing a lot of thinking about changing the handlebars. I've been on something of a black binge as well. I was thinking about putting on a set of 12"-14" black apehangers, keeping my chrome spikey grips and doing chrome switch housings with stainless braided cables and brake lines. Sort of a reversal of colors. Whatcha think?
I think your bike looks great like it is. Those pipes really stand out and now I'm thinking about a skull for my air cleaner cover. That said, I believe that it's the black that sets off the Bobs so more black may be just the ticket. And, if you don't like 'em you can always list them on Ebay!
Hey Craig, how about starting a gallery with closeups of your bike's upgrades, looking good.
I agree with ThudMeister, I really like the look of Craigs Bob, in fact, I've already removed my reflectors off my Bob and also plan to add a skull AC cover (sorry Craig for copy catting). Yes Craig please set up a gallery!
As far as the 14" apes, I think it would look awesome, though I would leave it chrome. Just my preference.
I say if you go apes, the higher the better. I went 16s and at first thought they were to high and thought that maybe 14s would of been a better choice. Now after getting hooked on them I now wish I had gone higher than my 16s but since I'm about to change out the stock seat that will drop me about an inch making my apes feel and look almost like 17s I'll be good. I kept the black housing and switches and even had black cables made for the 16s to keep my blacked out vibe going. I went with chubby apes that I like better than the skinny stock look. just my 02 worth.
Yup, I went with the black cables instead of stainless as well. I didn't want the cables to show up, and I think that shiny cables against black bars will stand out too much.
