don't tell my mom but she's alittle stubby and she got a Mustang vintage with rider backrest. Helps hold her foward on her Fatbob. Went with a set of pullback risers to help with the reach too.
+1 on not going with the Reach Seat. Stupid dealer talked me into one to replace the sofa sundowner the used bike came with. I knew all along I'd be better off with the stock seat, and I got one on Ebay. The Reach may push you forward, but it also raised me up. The stock seat gets me closer to the ground and to the forwards. I also tilted the bars back a degree or two, that helped a lot too.
And I agree with the others -- forward controls for a 5'1" woman is ridiculous. I am 5'10" and at first I could barely ride with them. It's an accident waiting to happen, put mids on for her, or buy her a Sporty Low.
I still have to sell the Reach and the Sundowner when I get around to it.
im glad you guys are harsh, but she likes the forward controls and with the shorter shocks, drop front end and a new seat that pushes her forward she gained the inches to reach the pegs and foot rest. we went for a ride yesterday to the beach, 10-15 miles an she did awesome. thanks for you thoughts.
will be ending the cande_mann name and will be under the flyin hawaiians as i'm getting married and got the wife the street bob as a wedding gift. getting it set for her is happening and i'm doing it safely. thanks everyone, i like the spirit here
I always felt like I was holding my legs out in front of me, but after the heel rests, it's a comfortable ride.
Also, the Reach worked for me and my brother. It's a little hard and could benefit from a little memory foam or gel, but I'll bet a lighter person wouldn't have a problem with it.
O modded a stock WG seat to lower me and puch me forward as well as building a back rest.
I got my heel rests from www.KCInt.com which were pretty cheap and holding up well.
Glad to hear it the mods worked out for her and she enjoyed her first ride.
Being a short gal myself ( 5'2") with a short inseam, I know what she was faced with.
Just got back from a little solo ride of 85 miles...... Now that my bike has been modified to fit me better, I'm not afraid to go it alone anymore......and congratulations on your upcoming marriage. It's wonderful that you'll both ride your own bikes, traveling the road of life together on. All the Best...
