I am at 9500 miles on my FatBob and the rear tire is about shot. Is this the expected lifespan? I am happy with the tire compund (rubber density) and probably wont go to a harder tire, just curious as to what everyone is pulling out of them.
just did a little research myself as I am approaching the wear bars now @ 7300 miles. I couldn't find any matching size direct replacements. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong. The Metzler ME880's came closest but since they don't have the exact front the $ is pretty much the same as stock.
Close to 8k on my '09 Fat Bob, and it looks like I'll be looking for a new rear tire soon.
It's not ready yet, but I don't think it will make it much past 10k if it even makes it that far.
The type of roads you ride on along with the weight your carrying on your bike play the biggest role in how much mileage you get from a tire.
I don't do a lot of interstate or city riding.
It's 95% rural county and state roads which are mostly rough asphalt. I also have the wife with me most of the time.
I'm just about to hit 30,000 miles and I am on my 3 tire of the same as stock. The two before each got 13,000 miles and I expect the same from the one on now. I ride two up alot and I like getting into the twisteez when I'm solo. I don't do burn outs so depending on how you treat them I'm sure will end with different results.
i'm from the touring section, and the new dunlop elite 3's are about as good as you can get. we're getting over 13k miles on them on full dress models. check your sizes and you'll not find a better gripping and wearing tire. and they don't follow rain grooves like the older d 402's did. no more butt wiggle on the road with the elite 3's.
I got almost 10k on the original rear on my 08 FatBob. The second is almost due at 12k. I did get 17k on the front. Replace it with a Metzler. Avon has a rear that fits or the Dunlop Elite 3 also. I'll get whichever I find for a better deal in Sturgis.
12,500 on my stock 'lops. Just switched over to Metzeler 880's and absolutely love them. Believe it or not I don't feel so beat up after a few hours in the saddle. Didn't think tires could make that kind of a difference but they did.
approaching 10k and probably can get another 1 or 2k more. would like to go with the wide SE 180 but not sure about the mileage on it. don't know if they make elite 3 to fit a dyna, but i have them on my UC and they are great- mileage and handling.
