I have some HD heated grips. You might be able to use them with internally wired bars, but it would be tough. The wiring that has to go through the bars from one grip to the other is fairly large.

Mine failed after about 8 months, and I was able to convince the parts department to warranty them. They didn't want to because I didn't pay them to install the grips.

When these ones die, I'll be buying the Heat Demons. I love heated grips and will never be without them again, but the HD ones are too expensive for how short of a lifespan they seem to have.

I have heated HD grips and they work great so far. Throttle side is wired inside, clutch side is wired outside. Don,t know why there done like that as the dealer installed them for me when I got the bike.
They do give off a lot of heat and I have 6 settings. It gets cold in Canada and I use a pair of deerskin gloves, unlined.

I have the Heat Demons on my Fat Bob and they work great with any grip of your choosing. Plus the switch looks factory.

Here is another option: http://www.hotgrips.com/store.php?cr...on=show_detail These grips I bought specifically for my Ducati. They work great and I run them on high in the "winter" here in Dallas. I don't use my HD winter gloves and my fingers are generally good. My feet and fingers get cold really easy and these grips have worked well.

The wires run outside of the handlebars.

I had heated grips on my old bike for years with no problems (Before HD ever thought of coming out with them , of coarse they were made for snowmobiles and were wired inside my existing bars & grips. My hands are to small to wear bulky heated gloves and these worked AWSOME! They cost me about $50.00 for the heated grips and then about $100 labor to get them installed.

I have been using heated vests and jacket liners for about 15 years, and have ridden through freezing weather for hours. By keeping your core temperature up, warm blood can travel to your toes and fingers, keeping everything cosy. I ride with normal unlined gloves, and boots. Always a full face helmet, too...

Thanks everyone, appreciate all of the replies.

db252,
Any chance of getting a part number for your Heat Demons? Also, where did you take the power supply from?
Thanks,
Colin.

Colin,

Here is the website of the company that makes them and the size that you need which is 1 1/4" model. They also make it in chrome if you changed to that. I used the power that goes to the accessory side of the main switch under the console so that they turn off when the bike is off. That way I won't drain the battery if I forgot to turn them off.
