Nearly went down today
I nearly went down today.
I left my house early this morning to take the bike to the dealers for a warranty claim. The circuit board in the rear light had burned out. I got about a mile from home and it started raining so hard that I could hardly see. The drains couldn't take the volume of water and the road was flooded.
I took a corner at about 50 mph and hit about 6 inches of water. The bike aquaplaned and went down the road sideways with me hanging on and praying. Luckily, after about 20 yards the bike righted itself.
A bloke in a car behind pulled up alongside me at the next set of lights and shouted "you scared me to death back there, that was some skillful riding". I said "Oh it was nothing". I didn't tell him that I was more surprised than he was that I'd stayed on.
Anyway, I got the bike fixed and got home safely although I was soaked to the skin.
Does anybody know how to get pinch marks out of a seat?

Today was not a good day to be out for sure, here it has hammered down all day. But I feel empathy with you as every time I have to have a bike serviced the heavens open. Once I had to take a GS1200 to Rotherham of all places, had to stop on the hard shoulder as the wind was literally blowing me on to the central barrier. At least you lived to tell the tale! Glad you kept it upright.
I was doing about 65 when I first ran into the heavy rain which was like a wall. I was slowing down when I hit the water on the road. It was like a flash flood and I didn't want to brake hard so I guess I was doing about 50. Like you say I must have hell of a guardian angel.
It it wasn't you or the guardian angel, it must've been your FXDF. It just didn't wanna get itself bruised. Fat front tires aqua-plane quicker but will also grab faster once it's on something solid. What count was that you're safe. Cheers.
what's your point? sounds like you were riding like a ****ing idiot
