i say no emblems, i custom painted my whole bike, if your worried about the recognition factor, or just still want it to say hd, go with a cover, grip, peg ,theme.....(such as Willie G.).............you'l get plenty of logo coverage without having to give up prime paint real estate.
If you put emblems back on why get a custom paint job?? Why don't just have the "emblems" or "badges" air brushed on?? There are some sick painter out there you can mail the tins too also and doesn't seem all that expensive compared to my Harley paint scheme.
iam with the rest on this someday i will get a custom paint job and there will be no HD badges as you know them from the show room floor. But if i go custom paint iam getting something on the tanks and fenders so there would be no room for a badge now maybe something in the airbrush work or paint but no badge or stick on emblem if iam spending some jack for the paint iam not sticking anything on it.
ya know i was thinkin the same thing when i was considerin a custom paint job ( the first of many )
anyway, i have a bud who has a fattboy with no HD things on it anywhere. i asked him why and he said "i'm not advertising for them, and if someone doesn't know if its a harley or not by just lookin at it then i don't really give a ****, its not HD's bike its mine!"
my mind was made up after that.
u should always ALWAYS listen to that guy...sounds like a fine gentleman
kind of a personal preference thing. also depends on the paint job your getting. I was thinking about going with some vintage badges but opted to go with some pinstriping instead.
I opted for painting emblems, on the right paint job it looks fine without emblems but for me I modified the Heritage emblems and had them airbrushed to match the paint.
