Well, I've decided to get a custom paint job done on the tins.
The bike will have been off the road for 2 months this thursday. Found a custom painter, locally, who has done some sweet work.
Have not decided on a theme/look yet so I'm looking for suggestions too.
The thought occurred to me, "hmmm, wonder if I should put the HD emblems back on or not."
Your thought's?
ps; Getting a 103 stage 1 kit done while the bike is down.
Installing HD Hi Flow intake, V&H Double barrel's, Punching the cylinder's and installing IIRC 21966-07 flat top 10:1 piston's, & PCV.
Main reason for not installing cams right now is I'm staying w/in Insuurance repair check budget.
Beside's I'm just looking for a bit more early to mid range torque, not trying to hit any benchmarks.
I think it really depends on teh paint job you get if emblems should go back on. When you know what paint job you are getting post another poll with pics of the paint job.
ya know i was thinkin the same thing when i was considerin a custom paint job ( the first of many )
anyway, i have a bud who has a fattboy with no HD things on it anywhere. i asked him why and he said "i'm not advertising for them, and if someone doesn't know if its a harley or not by just lookin at it then i don't really give a ****, its not HD's bike its mine!"
i don't really give a ****, its not HD's bike its mine!"
my mind was made up after that.
Well said and that's the line of my thinkin'.
Right now, no theme or scheme has been decided on.
Still trying to come up with a tank.
Only thing set in stone is the $1200 allottment from the Ins. Co, for painting of the tins.
And $400 for a tank.

I was noticing how the shape of the flames looked like they'd be the perfect frame for the tushie and legs of a shapely gal, like a 40's - 50's pinup...

A fellow Forums member saw the pix in my album, and my comments about merging the two, and PhotoShoppe'd this for me...seeing it convinced me that's the route I'm gonna go, though I may use the faces of a few REAL gals I know/admire.
