Default Intiminators

I've resigned myself to the fact I don't like them in my front end.

Anyone want to trade for them? I'll be pulling them out in the near future. Not looking forward to tearing that front end apart again.

If you want to buy a set of Progressive or Works dual rate springs and swap for the intiminators...I'm cool with that. The Ricors cost $250+.

I'm interested to know what you don't like about them? I have no experience with them I'm just curious Vic. What is their claim to fame?

Ricor Intiminators. Sort of like Racetech gold valves except they work on a different premise. There is also no modification done to the dampening rod. These are "drop in".

When I installed them I had to seriously put some *** behind getting them to the bottom of the fork tube. Others have said "mine just dropped in". Not sure why mine were so hard to get in. They came with synthetic 10w fork oil. Its made my front end like a rock. Its solid in the twisties but for every day riding, not so much. so, per ricor, they say that the company who makes the fork tubes have no quality control and mine are just tighter than most because usually they literally drop-in.

You pull the springs out and drain fork oil. Add intiminators, and fork oil. Replace spring, and spacer on top of ricors. Close up the forks. You're done. Simple install really.

Don, search Ricor or Intiminators on the site. There is a huge thread started by muddpuddle.

I believe the insert is so tight in my forks it's really not allowing any regulation of fluid as it should.

Please don't misunderstand this. I'm not badmouthing Ricor. I'm sure their product is fine but for some reason in my setup it just doesn't work..

Vic I just finished reading the posts from back in March. Not one bad report on there. Vic, you must have gotten a bad set of tubes I guess. Makes sense to me that if the tubes are tight like you claim that wouldn't allow the intiminators to work orrectly. You have some real shi**y luck some times Vic. I feel for you brother!

Re: bad luck...I ain't worried about it. I'm doin pretty good. Good woman. Beautiful and healthy daughter. A job that allows me to stay home with her and not miss much. A set of tight tubes is not even on my radar.

I thought the valve went on top of the springs, not at the bottom of the tubes.

it sits on top of the dampening rod, then the spring, spacer...then cap.
