You can find a nice full system for just over $400. D&D Fatcats were going for $399. not too long ago. And that was funny Gary.

Am I right or wrong?...if I use slip-ons, there is a straight pipe from the engine to the mufflers...if I use a full system, there is a straight pipe from the engine to the mufflers...why change the whole system if all you want to do is get a little more sound?

Good sound is subjective, some of the full systems seem to make better sound than any slip ons, lots of variables there including engine tune.

I get nothing but complements with my 2.0 rush slip ons on the stock FatBob 2-1-2 system. They are loud, deep, no blatt, but they sound better when the XiEDs are richening the AFR for some reason. Your mileage may vary.

I have the Rush 2.0's but they were not loud enough.I took the baffles out and they were too loud.More like someone beating on a 55 gallon drum.So I took the fiberglass packing off the baffles and reinserted them.PERFECT.I do recommend!

I am actually going to contradict myself, hate it when that happens. I just found these and while not exactly what I am looking for, they might hold me over for a few years. Not sure about performance improvements, if any. I may have to look into these and see what I can find and of course I would need to hear some.

A BIG +1 on what Vic said. He mentioned to me as well when I asked this question to wait for a full system. I planned to do that, but ran across a screamin' deal in the classifieds here on some slip on's, SEII's with BCT baffles.

I'm super happy with the sound and look. And...they were cheap enough that I'm 99% sure I can get what I paid for them back when I do finally upgrade to a full system.

However, I will add that I'm extremely happy with the looks and sound. It doesn't mean I won't upgrade ever, but I can say if I find something else to buy for the bike, I will. So, it has dropped to a low priority for me for now.

I can also say, the youtube vids are worthless unless your watching a high quality video, not something done with a home cam. I had the luxury of hearing my fathers V&H's slip on's, a few guys I work with had Rush's, Big Radius..about the only ones I'm curious about I haven't heard in person is the Thunderheader, Bassani's or Rhineharts. All of which are top of my list for a full system!

Try to hear them in person before you buy and yes, Ebay and the classifieds as well as craigslist are great places to look for deals.

I'm using the V&H slip-ons and they sound great..as would any pipe that you can see right through...but as for performance..if you want to get from 0 - 60 a half second faster, then by all means...spend another $1,800 on a full system , plus AC, plus sert (or whatever fuel managment system is popular at the time)...what I got is exactly what I was looking for, sounds great and it's cheap..(not a word that is used in Harley circles)..
