I'm under six feet tall, and when I went from a 60" wheelbase bike (like a Sportster) to a 63" wheel base Low Rider, the additional comfort and room to stretch out was amazing. I can't imagine anyone over six feet being comfortable on a Sporty on a long ride.

we have lot of ppl that ride at work some of them started on sportsters. they all said it was ok for 1 up riding. they all have sold the sportster and replace it with dyna, soft tails and touring bike. if your going to do a lot of riding get a sg or larger bike.
i'm very happy with my fxdc for around town and long trips. i'm leaving for a tour of colorado starting friday.

I don't see whether you are talking a 1200 or an 883, either way though the Dyna will be much more enjoyable if you are doing any real riding.
I had an 05 Sporty 1200C, it was fine around town, but no comparison to my Dyna's I have owned. BTW I am 6'1" as well and 200 lbs. I ride 2up a great deal and the Sporty was never as nice 2up.
I don't think I could have enjoyed the Iron Butt ride at all on a Sporty, was quite enjoyable on my Wide Glide.
Like others have said, go sit on them at the dealer, decide for yourself.

I did an Ironbutt Saddlesore 1000 ride in 07 on an 05 883C Sporty converted to a 1250 and it was actually pretty nice (only bad part was everytime I stopped for gas I had to put oil in the bike). The oil problem is actually what led to me getting the Street Bob.
The Sporty wasn't bad on long rides for me after putting a Mustang seat on it but damn the Street Bob is even nicer and I don't have to carry oil around with me anymore which is a plus.

Well that wasn't really my problem. My problem was with the 1250 kit from NRHS. A few people had the same problems and it took them over a year to figure out what the problem with the kit was. They finally said it was the rings but I've since talked to some people that have tried the new rings and they said it still didn't fix the 1 quart per 500 mile problem.

Hell yea. I was serious about having to add oil at every gas stop during that Ironbutt ride. I carried 3 quarts in the saddlebags on that ride. It was getting damn expensive to ride the damn thing since I was using Mobil 1 V Twin synth oil.

I think tall people look better on wide glides because the bike is stretched out....They do look more comfortable on them too....

To give you an idea, I am 5'5" tall.......

here is me on the sportster.

and here is me on the wide glide.

I would say there is a good amount of difference.......even I look pretty big on the sportster (that started out an xl1200s). You would look like a little much for that bike I would think.
