This may not be right, but I am new to riding and Harley's. Anyway, I just bought a 2008 Street Bob, raised the tank and would now like some taller apes or tall risers with drag bars. However, it seems that I read or heard that you could not replace the handlebar risers on these bikes due to them being integrated in the triple tree. Is this close to right, and if so what needs to be done - replace the trees?
By the way, I am glad that I ran across this forum - you guys are great!
If you've got the bucks or the knowledge to do it yourself, I'd go with 14 or 16 inch apes. Plan on replacing cables. If you don't have the bucks, knowledge or desire then there are 2" risers available through one of our forum members that might get you by until you win the lottery. That's what I did. I'm only 5'8" so they work out pretty good for me and they look good with a 2" tank lift. Here's a closeup plus check my sig pic for the overall look. No the sissy bar bag only gets mounted on "special occasions". The bike looks much better without it.
Yep, integrated risers. Keep an eye out on ebay or folks on here changing out trees for wide glide, chrome, whatever. I ran across a forum member that went to glide trees and sold me his '07 Bob trees. When I swapped them out I took the easy route and only changed the top tree, too easy. Nice color choice by the way, I'm biased though...
Maybe PM the original poster in the link and ask about buying his trees after he switches to wide glide trees.
