Lowrider exhaust pipes / install
now we know thw flanges go over the pipe but there must be a compression type seal to go between the flange and the flared out part. Is this correct?
and does anyone know the torque setting for the flanges when he installs?
Thanks

As far as the nuts on the flange, HD service manual for the Dyna FX models shows between 60-80 in. lbs. as the correct torque. There is a pattern for tightening the nuts as follows:
Tighten the at front cylinder as follows:
1- Insall lower front nut finger tight.
2- Install upper nuth and tighten to 9-18 in.lbs. (1-2 Nm)
3- Tighten lower nut to 60-80 in. lbs.
4- Tighten upper nut to 60-80 in. lbs.
Tighten nuts on rear cylinder head studs as follows:
5- Install upper nut and tighten finger tight.
6- Install lower nut and tighten to 9-19 in. lbs.
7- Tighten upper nut to 60-80 in. lbs.
8- tighten the lower nut to 60-80 in. lbs.
Hope this helps out your buddy.
I have a buddy that is putting a stock set of pipes on his lowrider. the pipes came as pipes only and he went out and bought the flanges.
