Just an FYI for anybody with apes of any kind. I replaced the the rubber riser bushing on my streetbob with the Harley polyurethane bushings part #56165-03, about 35 dollars. What a difference. No more mushy feel. Perfect control. Probably the best thing I've done for the bike yet.
It's almost like a solid mount. With any type of ape bar you have too much leverage therefore creating a greater flex at the mounting point. With the mushy rubber mounts it kind of gave the front end a mind of it's own, which I certainly don't want.

Was this an easy change-out??? I'm replacing my bars very soon and never thought about that.
it was real easy. Don't follow the directions though. I know you said you were changing your bars, but for anybody else. They tell you to remove your bars. not necessary. Remove one riser bolt and you can twist the riser out of the way to change the bushing, install bolt and repeat for the other side. This avoids having to diconnect your cables or have the bars laying on your tank like the directions say. I do suggest having another set of hands to keep the loose riser from hitting anything.
Thanks dog!!! I can't wait to get the bars on. After that, it's Bassani Pro Streets with black heat wrap and my own custom tooled leather on a custom seat pan.
Got all my cables and lines ordered yesterday and I made sure there's enough length OS to move up to a set of 16" bars if I chose. Also, I'm heading to my stealership today to pick up a set of new riser bushings. If all goes well, I should have some new pics to post by next week. Thanks to all for your input. [sm=happy046.gif]
