I'm assuming he probably just had the upper area painted. I wonder if you could anodize the upper fork tubes??? Anyone know if it could be done???

You can't anodize steel.

Mine is still in progress. Ordered the black LED headlight, solo mustang seat and some more small parts.....it will however always be a chrome / black combo

I think what you do is slip a black tube over the outside of the fork tube between the lower and upper triple trees ....

For some reason I was thinking they were aluminum, but they wouldnt be strong enough if they were aluminum.

there's one possiblity called DLC Diamond Like Coating, it's highly resistant and black, one example, if you take 2 stainless tube and rub them mechanicaly against each other you'll see traces of wear off after 8 hours, with DLC you'll have to wait... 80 years !!

I wanted to do this, the problem is that you can not have assembled part, they are afraid dirty will contaminate the other parts in the oven (it's a huge oven) the only way to do this would be to cut out the parts that are pressed down in the tube, DLC the tube and then re-weld them... some do this, not me !!
