so has anyone got the Stator coming apart issue warrantied by Harley? i work with a guy that had over 15000 miles and wrote into MOCO and they replaced the entire engine!
i am an 06' Superglide with just under 19000. what are my chances of getting a warranty replacement? i just want the parts. i will do the work myself (don't trust stealer with my bike)
i know this thread exists, but i was just wondering about getting parts from Harley.
The MOCO will probably want a dealership to install the parts if it is a warranty repair. Give it a try, the worst that they can say is “No, all warranty work must be done by dealership mechanics.” or "We won't cover that"
i figured that is what they would say. actually just got off the phone with MOCO and they said the same. since i am over the miles covered under warranty, they would posssibly just discount the cost a bit. so it will be cheaper for me to just order online and do work myself. at least it will get done right this time!
yeah... all the allens backed out and totally wrecked the stator. thought the rotor was ok, but i got a couple chunks broke out on one magnet, so gonna change the whole deal out and spot weld the allens so it won't happen again. i think i am gonna go to dealership after work today and throw the pieces up on the counter for fun. at least i wont have to throw them away when i leave them there! FTF is coming to mind right now!
yeah, i already have it tore apart. heading to dealer in a half hour. they said they have one in stock. so the replacement one is welded on already? good to know.
That sucks -- **** like this happens just out of warranty; Murphy's Law.
Did the MoCo begin welding these at a certain time? Should I rip apart my '07 now for preventative maintenance and have it welded or did they begin welding these in '07?
