I bumped my starter while at idle and it made that lovely noise. Shut it off and started it twice just fine and then when I stopped to get fuel it wouldn't turn over.

Sounded like it was under load. Rolled it to start and got it home. It would start but had an odd tone in it when it turned over. Anyone have any experience like this?

 

Uh no...running the starter while the engine is running will tear up the gearset & clutch in it.
