It's the easy to install part that made me laugh. Should I have a dealer install it for me?

After looking at Wimmer and K&N, they make rain covers for lots of shapes and sizes but not mine. However, a local old-timer told me that all you need to do is carry a pair of small panty hose. when it starts raining hard or for a long time slip it on (the air filter!). She also said some people go the added measure of spraying the nylons with Rain-X.
I think that is the solution for me. And I'm going to carry Rain-X also. They say it will eventually cloud plastic visors and windshields, but I'd rather see clearly in a rain storm and then replace the visor, than not see for */%# in the rain.
14,000+ miles so far on my heavy breather with never a rain sock on it. Have ridden through some HEAVY downpours (Texas mega-thunderstorms) and the engine hasn't missed a beat yet.
Anyone know of one that will fit a Zipper's filter on a SE back plate? I understand the Zipper is wider than the SE filter.
I believe the Zippers HiFlow is the same size as the SE filter, and I believe that K&N has one that will fit. Look here once you have the measurements: http://www.knfilters.com/search/wrap.aspx
The MaxFlow, which I have, is 3" deep. That is the difficult measurement.
Interestingly I noted that they say the 'waterproofing' on the K&N Drycharger will only last a year or two. I don't think HD's rainsock has that limitation, so K&N must be doing it a bit differently.
I wish I could find a source for the material that HD uses, and just make my own. I know it's a nylon material, but my guess is that there are a lot of types of nylon out there.
