Default She held......this time anyway.

Close followers of his site may recall the "test" of my Garmin Nuvi GPS attached via the suction cup mount to my fuel tank. I recently returned from a 500 mile trip through the Berkshires, mostly on 2ndary roads, top speed was 65 mph., but she held tight, never came loose, even on rough back roads.

I suspect a tight seal is key. My tank is waxed with Collinite Fleet paste wax, the best in my opinion. No paint wear marks were left either by the cup.
I ran the cord down along the tank into a fixed 12 volt socket on the battery cover screw.
Next time I may add a safety line affixed to the console screw.

This was also my first trip with a GPS (I'm a little behind the times). I'll probably never go back to a road map...

I suction cup mine to the windshield. It seems to hold good.

Look at the Ram mounts that will fit. IO have my Zumo 550 mounted dead center on the handle bars. The problem with suction cups is as the air heats up the air in the cup expands and releases the mount. SO be careful.

That explains everything right there. Use the best marine wax and you cant have problems.

You do realize now that you've been spoiled by a GPS, you're officially a poser?
Dont feel alone. I dont go nowhere without Jill.

Yeah......I suppose this gadget doesn't help my chances to make the Filthy Few club any time soon.
