Does anyone have a Garmin GPS mounted to the tank or somewhere with the suction cup mount? I feel like it should work just fine but i dont know. Anyone with some bad stories?
I would not trust a suction cup to hold a gps on a gas tank. Imagine if it fles off and scratches the tank, then it hits ya in the head on it's way to the person behind you, you know what if? I got an aluminum handlebar mount and it screws on.
Nope, I wouldn't chance using a suction cup mount. I know of two people that did, and won't do it again. I use a Ram Mount handle bar mount. No problems with it at all.
I second those who gave the thumbs-down on the suction cup - we've heard this story from a good number of customers over the years! There are lots of good-looking options out there, everything from a simple windshield stem to handlebar mounts. Here are a few made to mount to handlebars. I used the first one for many years on many long trips with zero issues, a Ram Mount holder will bolt right up replacing the iPhone holder. It twist and locks in place in two seconds and when removed the mount (round part in pic) is barely noticeable. There is a video of how it works on the web site. You can get the mount for $6 on
