Just wondering for the ones who has had there derby cover off what is the gasket you are using and how much was it?My parts book shows 17369-06 for the gasket and it is.2.85 dollors.Went too harley to get a couple oil filters and a gasket told em to keep it!! 9 dollors it was looks like a round piece of cardboard is all.Did harley do away with the 2.85 gasket I wonder or whats the deal. Its bs to pay 9 bux every time a guy gona pull the cover.Or was dealer not giving right price.said on one side this faces clutch.I see chicago harley has 2.85 gasket if they have any that is.
Sporty's and 06 Dynas are the ONLY ones that HAVE to use the quad rings......
Huh?? I recently bought a replacement derby cover (black finned) and asked the parts guy for the gasket and he gave me what I guess you are referrring to as the "frisbee". A solid grey disk with a raised orange ring on the surface facing the inside of the bike. Do I understand you to say that this is incorrect?? (Not that this would really surprise me as some of those parts guys are about as sharp as rotten tomatoes.) This setup has been on my bike for several weeks.
OK, I'm clueless -- what is an "orange quad ring"?? What does is look like (other than being orange)? Are you referring to the one that comes in the stock derby cover? Doesn't the gasket needed vary depending on the derby cover one chooses? Thanks very much.
The 06 is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PRIMARY HOUSING........
When you remove the derby cover, it has a pretty deep groove in it eh?
No inspection cover on the 06 either, huh?
Your 06 is to be utilizing an orange quad ring...
That is correct for the STOCK cover. When you put one of the "custom" covers on it, it does not have a place for the orange ring rubber gasket, thats why you need the grey flat one. My loacal dealer sold me the orange one as well, I went to another dealer who tried to sell me the same thing, "you have an 06, this is the gasket". UUmmm no, gimme the flat one...

It's a big orange rubber gasket, like an O-Ring, with little bumps on it. I have the gold and silver flames cover, it doesnt have a grove like my factory one has that the orange gasket sits in. So you need the big flat grey one that says "This side towards clutch" or something like that.
