I'm new to the street bike world. Next month I'm taking the "Riders Edge" riding course. Then I want to get my first street bike. I've been looking at the Dyna Super Glide Custom. I just think its a great looking bike. I've gone to 3 dealerships and sat on both the Super Glide and Super Glide Custom, plus many of the other Dyna models. I keep coming back to the Custom though.
Had some friends tell me to start out on a Sportster, I just keep thinking that if I do that I'll want a bigger bike so why not just start out with a bigger one. Anyone that has experience with the Custom I'd love to hear about it and if you like it, pro's vs cons....
I may be a little biased since I own one, but I think the SuperGlides are the BEST value in HD's line-up, and maybe the BEST bikes period. I sold an ElectraGlide and bought one, and I don't regret it one bit. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2199/...2f33ab5d2f.jpg

one thing to consider is that the custom has chrome covers that would be a substantial cost to replace on a plain superglide dont know if the cost difference between the two bikes would offset that-also the custom has a tank mounted speedo which i prefer -both bikes are awesome!
They are beautiful bikes. I've yet to drive one, sat on a couple and love they way they feel.
How about customizing? What have you guys added to yours?
Jimmy, congrats on your upcoming purchase. I've been riding an FXDC for two years now, after 10 years on a Sportster 1200 Custom. I loved the Sporty, but the Super Glide is in a different class completely. Like hd4evr2008 and cmonster said, the Customs are the best value for the money hands down. Best of luck in your decision.
If I had room for another bike I think it would be a Super Glide. A buddy in High School got one my senior year, I think they first came out in '70 or '71. I still think it's one of the coolest bikes Harley makes.
