He purchased a set of slip ons, either Rush or Cycle Shack
I am riding my bike from MA to CT where he lives to switch them out for him and I need to bring the correct tools with me.
Can someone please tell me what size wrench/socket I will need to unbolt the mufflers from the headpipes. (I assume they are held on by a muffler/pipe clamp that needs to be loosened)
Also what size are the mounting bolts if the muffler is bolted to a bracket?
Just basic tools, screwdrivers, sockets, maybe an allen key. Not to sound like an ***, but can't your friend handle using a socket and a screwdriver?
Super easy install.
To answer your question.NO he can not handle it..that is why I am blasting down to help him out. I realize it is easy...I have done many muffler/pipe changes on my bikes through the years.
I am asking what size wrench or socket I need to bring down on my bike from MA to unbolt the stock mufflers from the head pipes and the mounting bracket?
If I remember from pulling my stockers off to drill them out, it's a 9/16 for the clamp and 1/2 for the pipe to pipe connection and the bracket off the tranny.
If he can afford the bike and the pipes, to be sure he can afford a cheap socket set and some US sockets. Not trying to be an *** either but it would be good for him to have some basic tools if, for no other reason, to check and keep things tight now and then. There have been multiple posts here about slipons falling off or almost falling off because the clamps got loose. Are you going to blast down again just to tighten them back up for him?
