Default stator plug leak

im getting to know the 1995 dyna lowrider i just traded on. its older than my sporty and more miles(46xxx). i noticed an oil leak coming from the stator plug. i read at some forum about a guy using an o-ring to solve this. it sounded like a good idea so, i tried it. i slowed it down but it didnt totally stop, i think it may have been a tad too big. they were out of the smaller ones before the size i got. my next idea is to use gasket former or sealer. is ther any reason i shouldnt do this? there has to be a solution besides replacing the stator to cure the seapage.

Why not just use some sealer (RTV)? Clean the oil off using some brake cleaner and seal it up.
