There are a lot of guys on here with a load of experience, there are also some guys with not much.It would be handy for all to know which H.D parts are interchangeable between model years,or from other style Harleys. And what mods,if any,you need to make to fit.ie,tanks, seats, wheels etc
I think a lot of what you seek has already been shared here in previous posts. This is where the search function and HD Knowledge Base come in.
There are so many possibilities and potentially interchangeable parts, I don't think a single thread would be a user friendly resource for anyone seeking such info. I feel it would end up resembling a box with all the loose parts from all the different model Dynas in the line-up, waiting to be used to build a bike. While it is doable for a few, most would do better if they were indexed and easily accessible.
I hear what you are saying, but on the other hand, there are so many posts allong the lines of,will this model seat/tank/fender etc fit my bike.
You could say the same about the under $50 bit,but that works, because it's all in one place.
Surely,as H.D are the masters of parts bin models, there would be a lot of interchangeable standard parts.

I am amazed at how much is NOT interchangeable. Even from the dealer it seems I have to be very careful. The packages always say this year to that, this model and that, except this and that. Used parts is even harder.
I agree with you it would be nice, but I think this reference would be a huge book.
Sometime I feel like my 99 FXD is the redheaded stepchild.
