The dealer download and V&H pipes tons of decel, runs hot(will ping) performance suffers that was my situation till I installed SERT and got it tuned properly.
Hey Tide, we have the same bike and I tried the FP, what a waste!! I have the download as well and the conclusion I have come to is that if I did not have the download it might have worked, but I could never get the thing to tune properly, even after a couple calls to V&H. I think when FP asks if you have the Stage 1 it means the full stage 1 kit, bigger bore etc. So it never quite got it right. I ran it for about 4 months and removed it.
The thing with the Pre '06 Dynas is that they don't have 02 sensors that constantly monitor the fuel ratio. So, I think that's why the F.P. doesn't work as well. If you haven't bolted the pipes on, I still say your set up with the down load will work fine.
Not to hijack the thread but what B/S! Why the heck can't HD put a decent system on the bikes like the rest of the world? A closed-loop system then it pretty much wouldn't matter until you went way out there with mods.
They do put a decent system on the bikes, they have to comply with Federal Regs, which means least emissions. It works just fine until we modify them.
Why would they try to put everything on it stock, when everyone has their own ideas about the perfect bike? They would never be able to make everyone happy, so they build a bike that conforms to the Federal Regs.
I installed the Big Radius today and she looks and sounds great. I have almost no popping on decel just like the old screaming eagles. I think at some point I will get the dyno tune just to get it perfect.
