Ok ... I borrowed a voltage meter. I pulled the new battery and charged it up - tested to make sure it had approx. 12.5 sitting on the porch. Installed said battery and started the bike ... voltage meter showed approx 12.3. Ok, so now I know for sure it isn't charging. Does that mean it is the stator? Could it still be the voltage regulator? My shop manual is still at home and I'm not
How do I test the various pieces w/o taking the primary apart? The VR is on the front of the bike right? This guy is going to start carrying that damn manual around in the saddle bags. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

You don't, just order the stator, then take the primary apart to install it. I put a 3 phaze 40 amp system in (Be sure to use the screws they send, not your old ones, the new are longer for a reason, trust me on this, save buying yet another one)

Ok ... I'm gonna limp it home and tear into it tomorrow or Monday ... is this strictly a stealer part or can you get them after market someplace?
No warranty ... already tore it apart ... worse than I thought ... pics to follow. I have pieces of copper wire in the primary and bolt heads stuck to the magnets in the rotor ... ****!
Look on the bright side, if you can call it that.
You didnt fry it by jumping the bike
Uhhh I'm pretty sure I did ... I think I fried it bad then it "stuck" in the rotor and tore the hell out of everying in that area ... the up side is everything else looks ok
Na, the stator probably just came apart like a lot of other 06's. Aren't some dealers fixing this out of warranty? Or is that the IPB? Might look into it.
