Default Stock Shock life - fat bastard

Ok, I'm a big guy and I'm wondering what type of shock life I should expect from the stockers on my 07 Dyna Low Rider? I run them one below "max" and they seem to ride ok although on a big bump they can bottom out. I've got 5500 miles on them so far and if they're something that'll wear out about 8-9k then I'd just as soon replace them once the snow starts falling so I'm good to go next year.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Have a good one,
Dave

Default Not so fat

I've got about 15.000 miles on my stock shock (2007 Low Rider). Now I'm changing them as they feel like having no damping left. I will bounce around on uneven roads. I'm going for the Progressive 430's and I'm changing the fornt springs at the same time. I know there are better shocks out there (I had Ohlins on my previous ride - a Sportster 1200R), however I'm confident it will be a step up from the ride I'm experiencing today. My dealer gave me a good price as he thought it really was ridicoulous that a 2 year old bike would need new suspension.

Sounds like I should be able to get another riding season on mine then before I replace them. Thanks for the info.

Now I don't know what you mean by big, I am an over 200 Lb guy. I live in SoCal so i can ride all year and I had the stock shocks for 1 1/2 years before I changed them. I had about 15,000 miles. I put on the 430s 1" lower mostly for the look.

I was 298 pounds riding on my stock shocks for 1 1/2 years on the 2nd notch and to be honest I thought they rode pretty smooth. They still work fine but I changed them out for some Progressive 412's that are 1 inch shorter. I love the look of them but they ride rougher. They do ride a little better now that I'm 211 pounds but the stock ones were still smoother riding.
