Default RE: Open air filter question...

I've read several times on here that Auto Zone has or can get the K&N HD-0800 filter at a reasonable price. However, after making calls to a few stores in my area, I have been unable to find anyone with half a brain that can locate this item in their computer. Do any of you know if there is a another part number under which this thing might be found?

THANKS!

I ordered mine right from K&Ns website....something like 55-60 bucks shipped.

I've been running an open filter for over a year and have had no problems at all. I think it looks better but flows more air than either the stock football cover or any other full cover. I don't know for sure, maybe someone who knows for sure could chime in (Shovelhead Bob?) and let us know, but I don't think the dealer could void your warranty for running an open filter. As far as rain and bugs, I haven't had any at all. If it collects more bugs, they blow off on the highway and rain? I've ridden through some long hard downpours over the summer and never had as much as a cough from the bike.

I guess if a dealer wanted to give you a hard time they could, but then they could find that almost any modification made to the bike is "technically" in violation of your warranty. They'd have to prove that the open air cleaner lead to the problem that they're refusing to fix under warranty.

The dealer told me specifically that my warranty wouldn't be voided...but to tell you the truth...if I was having problems, I'd just put the stock football cover on before I brought it in for service.

Just go to the store and work with someone there.

Have them punch in HD-0800. They can special order it...I got mine there.

It was $32.00 plus tax. I had it the next day.
