Anyone ever have problems with their stators on an 08 Fat Bob? Mine went kablooey with 10,000 miles (just after I had come thru a fairly desolate mountain pass and had hit civilization again thankfully). Has me a lil concerned about further issues when I am out of warranty . Just curious if it's a freak thing, or should I be expecting it to happen again? For that matter, what's the leading causes for these things to fail?

so far so good on mine,though I had a pile of other stuff go bad on me! At least everything HD fixed has stayed fixed. My warranty is up in 2 months with 17500 miles and climbing.

 

Mine went out at 10,000 miles also. It was on a 07 wide glide. It is a common problem. You can do a search and find it repeats it self on all HD forums. Hope no trash got it to your oil pump. I do believe that is what happened to mine. After the stator my oil pump had a severe failure. Which in turn took out the bottom end. Had a complete rebuild on HD.... No problems since then. 8,000 miles later

 

Yeah mine is SHELLED ... see my thread w/ title "did something dumb" ... turns out I didn't cause it even though I did something dumb. There is a link in the thread that will show you how to replace it yourself if you ever need to.
