Lowering kits
If I were going to lower my bike...I'd get a set of shorter shocks. Ebay is a good place to find what you need at a reasonable price. Although I've never used them, I don't think I would ever use those lowering blocks. I dunno...they just don't look like a good idea to me.
I've been thinkin' about the 1" lowering blocks for my ride...
In my opinion there is no down side.Ive done it both ways and what i like about the blocks is it does not limit the rear travel. And if you like the way the bike rides with the stock shocks it will ride the same.My wife rides with me all the time and we haveNEVER bottomed out.I increased the spring rate 1 click in the rear and its great.I did nothing with the wiring harness under the fender and there is not a mark on it.One thing i noticed is that it rode kinda funky just doing the back. The stock SB rides higher in the front and lowering just the back made the bike feel like it had no front end.I put the progressive drop ins in the front which is adjustable as to how far ya want to lower it and i played with the height.I ended up dropping the front 2" and it rides so much better then it did stock.Im around 170lbs and my wife is 130lbs so naturally body weight would have an affect on all this.Just wanted to let you guys all know what i did and what i thought ..........just my 2 cents.
Ya i hear ya sc and your right.I put them on to see how it was gonna look and ride and then i bought the shocks.I spent over 200.00 on them and it rode better with the stock ones.It also bottomed with the new shocks with 2 people on them. But i def see your point and its def valid..

the angle change of the shocks relationship to the swingarm. Bags designed to fit with the stock location of the shocks may not fit. The angle change does have an effect on the shocks responsiveness, how much is noticed depends on the rider.
Well.... I was finally getting around to doing my suspension lowering, and unfortunately I am not going to be able to use the 1" lowering kit on my bike because my side-mount license plate is mounted to the swingarm and the mounting bracket will not slide back to allow room for the block, and if I slide it forward, the shock will block the view of the license plate. I'm hell bent on lowering my rear end, so I think I'm going to go with some different shocks that come in an 11" full cover heavy duty (chrome is my only option).
