i have a 09 Fat Bob with V&H sideshots and SE race tuner. Have had it tuned twice and says everything seems to be running perfect. Could i need new exhaust gaskets. Flames and popping happen on decel? Could any damage to motor come of this condition?
If a dealer did the tune I would think they are controlled by federal to return your mixture to the EPA requirments which means a lean condition, I might be wrong. If you took your bike to an indy tuner, that person might richen up the mix a little to get rid of some of that popping.
thanks for the fast reply, personally i dont think they are regulated by epa if they are i dont think they worry about it too much here in Wyo. My buddy had the same install and he has no popping issues.
If you have backfire and flames out the exhaust that is a rich condition. And yes it can cause damage.
Hard throttle with quick off throttle is very good at making a rich condition. Not knowing how you ride or tune you have I can't say what is causing it.

I agree.
I'll also add that EPA restricts what a/f ratio is set in closed loop (cruise and idle). While this causes more heat, it does not mean the bike is lean in the way most people think. A lean condition under load is what is dangerous.
You hear time and time again that fuel injected harleys are lean from the factory, when in reality they are more than likely rich in stock form during open loop. Probably somewhere close to 12.5:1 in wide open throttle where as optimal power would be a bit leaner in the low to mid 13's
