Stock gas cap and gauge

I bought the skull collection gas cap and gauge set for my 09 streetbob... looks good but that's about it.. installed them without the extra Grey wire and worked better than with it installed.... i want to paint my original cap and gauge, how do i get the gauge apart to remove the glass window in the top so i can blast the chrome off? I am going to buy a service manuel in the winter months here soon so please do not suggest that for this little project... Thanks fellas.... you rock!

Nothing in the manual on how to take the gauge apart. Most likely it doesn't.
