Default Thinking about winter mods

Hey guys,

I just bought an '06 Superglide and I'm saving some money to make some mods over the winter. I would like some recommendations if you have any on whether to go chrome or black... stuff like that. Anyways here's some parts on my to-do list:

Risers, mirrors, bars?, grips, speedo & tach combo, forward controls, seat.

Not really a long list, but that's not all of it. If I got bars, I would love to get the same exact bars that Dyna-Asa has on his Super Glide, but unfortunately they don't make them anymore and they're almost impossible to find. If I could get those bars I'd go all black controls up top and I think that'd look pretty sweet.

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I'm a chrome guy but to each his own. My advice would be seat and grips first - go for added comfort first. I have the Mustang Vintage and ISO grips. I'm about to switch to FXDC bars (to hopefully bring them an inch closer). Happy modding!

if you can find some used stuff you can always save a buck or two by buying used and sending them my way for some powder

Hey Joe,
I've got the gray painted primary, trans, and cam covers off my 08 FXD if you know anyone with a need.

Agree with going for comfort first.

After that, lots of reading and looking at pics will give you some ideas.

Whether to go chrome or black? Only you can answer. Do what you like better for each piece. Chromed out has been done a bazillion ties. Blacked out has been done a bazillion times. Somewhere in the middle has been done a bazillion times. Forget about what others will like better, customize for you and no one else.

I just installed forward controls. I'm 6'1" and had the hiway pegs, but hated going back and forth to shift and brake. I love the new forwards, and did it myself to save money. Not hard, just a little intimidating at first.
