If you dont want to spend a couple of hundred $ on new triple trees you can just loosen the fork tube clamps on your trees and slide the fork tubes down in the trees a tiny bit (like a 1/8 inch)......that should give you the room you need to mount up the new bars - problem solved.
Either that or buy the 1" riser extension from Loner but that may not give you the look you are after - I have the Loner 2" extension and it works perfect for me but it does give you a bit of pullback due to the angle of the integrated riser on the top tree....
Wait, so I can slide the bracket UP doing this? As long as they are snug they should be safe then right?
Yes, jack the bike up to take the weight off of the front end and loosen the bolts on the top and bottom clamps. Once you get the bolts loose jack the bike up just enough to cause the fork tubes to slide down about 1/8" and then retighten all of the bolts and you should be set. You might have to give the tubes a little tap to get them to slide down. Just make sure they are slide down an equal amount.
Bump... Actual apes are my winter project along with a foot clutch system made out of the rods i just had taken out of my leg. (deer don't mix well with HD)
Is there anyone on here that has done this -

I need a tiny bit of reassurance before i go doing this. but i would thoroughly enjoy a fatter bar.
ghostrider69 was spot on in his instructions. I just did this with my bike, there is a tolerance for how much the fork tubes protrude from the upper tree. It just depends on how you feel about it, but this is a viable solution. I dropped my tubes just to get wires strung and the cables back on, but I do have an upper tree on order (PN 46278-08).
