So if anyone has a solution to this problem please let me know....
I am trying to put some new bars on my 09 street bob. I take the old bars off and go to put the new ones on and they are touching the top of the fork brackets. I figure, well this is easy I'll just buy some risers and problem solved. Not in the slightest....
The top fork bracket has the grooves for the bars molded in the fork bracket and all the risers that harley sells (that I saw) wouldn't work. So does anyone have a solution to add just a fraction of an inch to the bars so they clear the top of the forks? Thanks for the help fellas.....
Yeah, I had to same problem as I wanted to go with drag bars so I had to buy a new "Triple Tree Upper Clamp." You can see my original post HERE. The Upper Clamp is $349.99 MSRP, part number is 45538-08... I purchased mine from Zanotti for $231.65. So that may be an option for ya.
Doesnt it blow what they did to that triple tree...they say for streight...i say to save money!Eather way it sucks!
Yea, it sucks big time...I don't know how it saves 'em any money when they already have the top tree for the '07 model, but it really limits the type of handlebars without changing the top tree.
If you dont want to spend a couple of hundred $ on new triple trees you can just loosen the fork tube clamps on your trees and slide the fork tubes down in the trees a tiny bit (like a 1/8 inch)......that should give you the room you need to mount up the new bars - problem solved.
Either that or buy the 1" riser extension from Loner but that may not give you the look you are after - I have the Loner 2" extension and it works perfect for me but it does give you a bit of pullback due to the angle of the integrated riser on the top tree....
