I just added the silver face tach a few weeks ago. It was discontinued, but there are probably still a few still out there. Let me know if you have any questions on the install... not too difficult.
so does anyone know if the 2008 Fatbob has a 4" or a 5" speedo, I measured it to be 4" from edge of chrome across gauge to other edge of chrome as seen on bike, but not sure if it's measured 5" under chrome cover???. I think 08 is dif from 09 up..
I just installed a Baron tach on mine and wasn't too difficult. Just pulled the console to get to the wires and ran one wire down under the frame to get to the coil for an adapter. Pretty easy. About a $220 tach and got off ebay for $100. here are some cell phone pics. http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/...981/index.html
It's not too bad if you have the tools. You'll need a set of torques, wrench to loosen up the screws on the back of the gas tank so you can raise it and run the wire underneath to the ECM and some black plastic tie downs so you can secure the wires. I assembled the tach and wires first and then installed it on the bike.
You'll need to pull the quick disconnect fuel line off the tank so you can raise the take. Put some paper towels around it when you pull it. It only leaks for a second.
The instructions that come with the tach are confusing. There is a great link here on the site with photo's and more information. Search for it. If you can find the link, you can install the tach.
Looks good. looks identical to mine. But can you please share the info on what wires to tie into? im getting different info on the wiring. I have the black ground going to the battery. Orange going to the power "fuse box" and the pink going to Pin #3 or from what i was told the light green wire with a violet stripe. Are these correct? What did you use? I have power and lighting. But as soon as i turn the ignition on with out starting the bike the tach. needle starts jumping all over the place. I tried to look for A #3 pin number but can not find one.
Id also like a tach. Been looking at the options to swap the main gauge like the poster above. Ive not seen that one but there are a few options through the MoCo and aftermarket.
