Default UPS brokerage rip-off!

Well guys 'n gals, a fine member of this forum and i struck a deal for his sundowner seat which he said was just going to collect dust since he recenty switched to mustang solo/driver backrest.
Well the man shipped the package to me UPS and I got it today, actually quite fast!, and man I can tell you my **** felt like it had gone to heaven! the only two seats I've tried were the stock Fatbob and Streetbob seats. This sundowner is amazingly comfy even though it got dark and i only got a few blocks done.
The downside is that when UPS ships to canada they charge a heck of alot for their brokerage fees. I asked for and explanation and they had plenty for me ,but in the end I told them they were plain theifs. I said look my freind shipped this to me and paid extra for insurance and packageing, and here is my box and you are chargeing me even more than he paid just to receive it!
Shipping cost was 59$ +20$ insurance and packageing and don't you know when I picked it up they charged me 92$. If you google it there are tons of pages on this subject .....sick really! here is the link!

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&so...R2ADSA_enCA332

The point here is if you have to ship to can. go usps The same job gets done maybe a day later but you really save and avoid the hassle ie: you can't ask them to deliver say between 2and3 or after 4 or anything if your at work they make a new attempt the next day up to 4 tries ! sux really............fugem really

And greaat thanks go out to Mr.Fatbobrider for taking the trouble to send this seat on up to me!!!
Thanks a mil dude!

Always ship USPS to Canada and mark the item as a gift. Lessens the blow on the duties, etc.

Yep, USPS to Canada mark as a gift. I also fly rc planes and know of alot of rc companies that will not ship to Canada for this exact reason and they cannot ship USPS because of the size of the packages.

I won't buy "anything" from the U.S. unless they ship it USPS...the postal service is owned by the government...and believe it nor not, there are others ready to rip you off.........

Good post Mad ..... a good heads up for those new to this.

I won't purchase anything from the US unless shipping is via the US Postal Service .... been burned with Fedex & UPS in the past as well. With the USPS I have rarely had to even pay any duty or taxes, never any brokerage fees.

I've also sold a few sled parts to guys in the US as well and have always used Canada Post without any problems or hassles.

yea, I'm bummed out about it Scott! Sorry, didn't mean for that to happen at all. They didn't mention any additional cost when I shipped it or I would have asked around first.

Enjoy the seat!

How do you think "Brown" can afford the new trucks, Canadian insurance and Canadian wages, they have to make money to stay alive somehow.

Montreal is close to the US border get a mail forwarder in the US, drive to pick your goods up.

I've been burned myself tonnes of times, it sucks.

USPS as a gift, the only way to go. If they wont ship it as such, I wont order.

I have a freind who's dad lives near plattsburgh,he's in his late 70's though.I suppose i should inquire there first but,,,,ah Hell does anyone live near or between plattsburgh and burlington vt. ? who is willing to recive stuff I could scoot down and visit and get my goods? I'm looking for better shocks ATM and I'm affraid they may well have to be new from some place like werks or ohlin.
