I bought a Harley Davidson quick detachable windshield on ebay, supposedly off a Street Bob. Two of the mounting clamps are broke so I have to order them. Check these photo's out, do they all sit that far in front of light, have I mounted it wrong?
I have the same W/S and it measures 5 inches out from fork center which puts the bottom cutout
flush with headlight LENS... it does stick past headlight housing
yep, that's normal. And that's definitely the '06 dyna quick detach windshield. I've got the identical windshield for my '06. You can see it in my gallery.
yeah -- what stc13 said -- I have the HD quick detach super sport W/S on my Street Bob and the front is flush with the headlight. As long as you have the clamps bolted all the way in on the W/S, I can't imagine how you could have it not mounted right so the only other possibility is that it's not the right model. I know that's not what you want to hear.
hmmm. . . after I posted I saw Wild Wally's response. [sm=confused06.gif] [sm=dontgetit.gif]

LOL - now you got me second guessing myself!
I'll go out to my bike at lunch and take a look and report back.
Wally thanks, Yeah I have been busy. the kids got me the air cleaner cover for Fathers day. And I added the grips and pegs for my B'day.
I am in Sparta, about 1 1/2 hours or so from you.
grape ape, I meant to say that my windshield is a little farther out than the headlight. If you have it to low it reflects right back at you at night.
I am planning on getting the trim ring for my headlight someday and that will extend it to flush or a little past the windshield.
It looks a bit far out to me. I just measured mine. It is the quick detach compact model. With the clamps set 3/4 inch below the top of the fork (almost as high as it will go), the top of the windshield cutout is an inch forward of the top of the lens where it meets the chrome ring around the head light. One of my clamps broke on the first week I had it and it is now on backorder and I am riding with only three of them. I can't see what I did wrong to break the clamp but I think it is very important to get them seated as tightly as possible before closing the clamps. Hope this helps.
