LOL - now you got me second guessing myself!

I'll go out to my bike at lunch and take a look and report back.

Wally
Hey Wild Wally,
I just checked out your photo gallery and you have a different windshield than I do. Looks like the quick detach standard -- mine is the super sport. Must be the explanantion for the difference.

grape ape, I meant to say that my windshield is a little farther out than the headlight. If you have it to low it reflects right back at you at night.
I am planning on getting the trim ring for my headlight someday and that will extend it to flush or a little past the windshield.
I have the chrome trim ring on mine. Maybe that's part of the difference too. I could not move my windshield down to the "reflect right back at you" point. It will not go down that far because the cutout would hit the top of the headlight.

Hey Wild Wally,
Did you have the dealer remove the mid shifter shaft and plug the opening?? not ask to boldly the cost?? the local dealer wants 275 for labor only here to do it.
thanks

they did that when they installed the forward controls.

I'm not an expert, but that sounds way too high. I don't remember for sure, but i think total labor for moving the controls was $200 or so.

If you are having the forwards installed that is not a bad price. It is about a 3-4 hour job. It took me 4.5 hours taking my time to do mine.

I got the forward controls on, and the just cap the mid controls so I have the old shaft coming out with a crome cap on the threads, yours look completely gone, the dealer said, have to move the primary to get the mid control shaft out, yes 3 hours for labor, and the gasket, a plug and new cover almost 400.oo a little high

Well you could just remove the primary cover and carefully cut the shaft off and then find a cap to fit the hole. That would be pretty simple.
But yes when I did mine I installed the '06 kit and took the entire primary inner and outer off.

Question to all you guys and gals who have the windshield: Does it really help alot? I have never ridden with one so I was wandering if it was actually worth the $$$.

do a search on the general forum and you'll find some good discussion/debate on windshields.

I won't hardly ride without mine. Makes the ride much more peaceful, but still plenty of wind in the hair. Just less noisy, less fatigue and way less bugs, rain, rocks, etc.
