Been waitin since Feb and let me tell you it was well worth the wait, Picked up my 06 Street bob last night from the dealer and drove the 30 miles home. Hated the mid controls but had a set of forwards from an 05 WideGlide thanks to a fellow Hd forum member waiting at home. Swapped them out last night and went for a decent ride today, 313 miles. The bike is absolutely awesome, Just not in the same way as my 05 Ultra. I call it my AntiUltra. Man, when people tell you these new bikes run lean they are not exaggerating. Seems to surge at cruising speed and pops back through the intake when blipping the throttle on downshifts on occasion. That will soon be cured with the addition of Porker Performance 2into1 SE A/C and a little tuning with the SERT and Twinscann WEGO setup.
The only real complaint I have about the bike is the damn key falls out after you shut it off with even a slight breeze, wonder what idiot thought this was a good Idea. All in all I could not be more pleased with the purchase, I gave up my 03 softail fxst to get this bike and it was a good trade. Not to take anything away from the softail but this bike is just plain more fun to ride. This bike seems to run really strong at completely stock, cant wait to see what it will do with some mods. I had the 180 wide tire kit installed and it handles excellent.
Congrats on the new bob. I am at 650 miles on mine as of today. I had to ride with the mid controls for a few days while I waited for the dealer to install my forwards... horrible! Who are these people with just short legs? I felt like I was riding a scooter.
The key thing... yeah, I hate that too. My only reasoning was they knew it would be a hot bike and didn't want you to leave you key in it so no one took it for a joy ride when you weren't looking.
I have the SEII exhaust set up and today I swapped out the stock baffles that came with it with a pair from Big City Thunder. All those problems you mention with the lower gears got solved with just swapping out the baffles. He runs like a new bike.
I have a buddy that got a street bob a few months ago and he can`t say enough good things about it . In fact thats all he talks about............... you guys ride safe and often ,Steve[sm=smiley20.gif]
Got my bob in Oct 05 and am at 6900 miles. One reason I went for the bob was the mid controls. I installed highway pegs also.
The key thing....I turn the key just pass off and it hasn't fallen out yet. I leave it in this position in the garage all the time. Before I was picking it up and putting it in my pocket about half the time. Then I would try being cool when I left only to get back off and dig the key out of my pocket.
