Default Just picked up new Bob!

Having only some dirt experience and taken the MSF course a few weeks back, I drove home my pewter Bob this evening. I must say it was quite a rush and even a little scary. I am just over 6'1', and while the mids on the Bob were a little more comfortable than the 250cc Nighthawk I rode in the MSF course I began to feel leg cramps after about 10 miles. Also, and correct me if I am just making an excuse, but I really feel that the mid controls throw off my balance in slow speed maneuvers, almost like my weight is quite a bit more forward than it would be with forward controls. Another issue was my boot-cut jeans were catching onto the pegs taking off from a stoplight and pulling them up...wasn't the best feeling on my first "real" ride to realize the pegs were up! Jeans tucked into boots, the rest of the ride home was pretty nice. I did stall the bike once from a stoplight...quite dangerous as the '07's must be in neutral to start but I don't expect it to ever happen again. My salesman told me that for the first xxx miles that it would feel like the brakes were weak, and I did not notice it so much in the front brake but the rear brake damned near felt like it wasn't connected. I guess its just one of those things that take time to break in. Overall I am very happy with it...I wasn't sure about the mini apes but I think I'll be used to them in no time at all. Anyways, just thought I would share a bit of humility with you all. I will try to get some pics up soon. Ride safe.

Congratualtions on the new bike! Can you post pics of that pewter color, I kinda like it, since it reminds me of Fonzi's bike on Happy Days, which is a good thing.

Congrats and welcome to the Dyna family. I wish I had waited another month for the Fonzi bike! I like that pewter on the bob. I have Cobalt blue one and love it. I went to forward controls this weekend. I think it was worth it.

'grats on the putt. You definitely want the fwds for some leg room, but the mids are actually better at centering your weight. You make be pushing yourself back further on the seat to get leg room. I'm 6'2 and the mids would never do so they went immediately.

Don't think I like that neutral thing.

Congrats on the new ride!
Just take it easy till you get used to the feel of the bike, shouldn't take long.
The mid controls are actually better for riding in the curves than forwards. But I know where you are coming from about the cramped legs, I'm 6'-1" also. I have mids but have highway pegs on the engine guard.

I can't believe you need the bike in neutral to start the thing! So I wonder if it could be push started? Another company trying to save us from ourselves.

Oh well, enjoy the ride and post pictures when you get the chance.

I'm definitely a fan of the pewter... looks old school to me.

the forward controls are a MUST in my opinion... just took sitting on one with mids to tell that. you also might try pushing the bars foward. the stealers like to line them up with the forks, but I prefer having them forward of that. makes for a better ride, at least for me.

hope you enjoy the bike.

I gotta admit....the pewter looks really good. Just wait until you start to make it your own, that is when the fun really begins. Good luck and ride safe and welcome to the family from SOCAL!!!

Thanks for the kind words and welcome. I think at the very least, the mid controls are bad as I am thinking about the pain in my legs rather than focusing on traffic and controlling the bike...that alone is enough to warrant the change.
