Default Bob is a hard a$$!

Well........at least my Street Bob is hard on my a$$, with the stock solo seat. I want/need to find a better solo seat. I have a two-up Sundowner seat for when the wife is riding with me & it's a lot more comfortable, but I'm wondering if I would be better off with another aftermarket seat instead of a Sundowner solo. Any thoughts on the subject?

Hey trucker

This is probably a stupid question, but have you checked your suspension? I am in the same boat. Stock solo was horrible, the sundowner, not too bad. I finally got around to checking how my springs were set, to find out they were set as stiff as possible from the dealer. I adjusted them two notches and it made a huge difference. Anyway...just a thought before you spend more money on another solo seat.

Well,........ While I really like the look of my bike in the solo configuration,..... the comfort of the Tallboy is the reason why I will be leaving my twoup seat on until I get a replacement for my factory solo seat. When I decided to get a new solo I think that I'm gonna get a Mustang seat. I have sat on several of them and talked to several buddies and they all agree that the Mustangs have alot more cushion than most all of the others on the market. With the factory seat, I cant go more than about 30 minutes at a time without my butt starting to really get sore, but I've extended my comfort time to about an hour nonstop without any butt fatigue with the H-D Tallboy seat. I bet if I had a good windshield I could probably run a full tank without any fatigue. But overall, I'm really impressed with the comfort of my Superglide. I actually bought it for the looks and at the time didnt think much of the long range comfort of the bike.

I did 250 miles today (Reno to Auburn, CA and then the LONG way home, awesome ride) I was surprised at how easy it was on the stock seat. I was with a few old guys on Ultra Geezers and they were complaining after 100 miles, but I was fine the whole way. Other than scortching hot temperatures.

Sorry, forgot to add the whole point of my post. You should try to sit on as many different seats as possible because it's just way too individual. I was fine on the stock, while other guys were uncomfortable on touring seats. There's no way to tell unless you sit on them.

Maybe I'm just a candy a$$,.....LOL Well, thats what a couple of my riding buddies were calling me the first couple of times we rode after I got my Superglide, but my new seat has helped.

I agree with Dennis, try the different seats. To me the factory seat is as comfortable as any of them.I've made 750 miles in one day on the factory seat and returned two days later. It's just a shame it looks like a swaybacked mule.

I'd suggest that you experiment with all the other things that affect riding comfort also. Peg placement, handlebar placement, adjustment of the settings on your shocks, etc. Consider a small windshield to knock some of the wind off your chest. Get one of those cheap little throttle rockers to eleminate wrist fatigue, get one of those little levers that attaches to the throttle tension adjustment so you can take your hand off the throttle if you need to without trying to adjust that litttle star wheel.

Nice bike BTW.

Good Luck

I swap the stock solo with my sundowner dual regularly and when I feel a little macho, I use the solo seat - hard and looks bad. If I want comfort on a longer ride or going two-up - the sundowner.
