Handling is better for sure. Just came in from a good ride, and I made it a point to seek out some
long sweeping high speed curves, as well as some tight curves. The scooter is definately more stable
with the COG a little lower. mud
This is good news. I will attempt tomorrow and will post pics. I have not seen any lowered front and rear Street Bob here yet.
Good deal kadook. No cussin. It's easy. Careful on the torx heads.
With the bike lowered, how is the jiffy stand working out? Is the bike significantly more upright on the stand? I'm changing to 11" in the rear and think I'll do the forks too, but I don't really want to have to change out the stand to a lower one.

I noticed the bike stood upright a little more when I installed my Progressive 412 11" shocks. I bought a shorter jiffy stand, and did not like it all. The bike leaned to the left way too much, like it was going to fall over, plus I could not locate the jiffy stand with my foot and as you raise the stand it would now hit the primary really hard. I know I can just put a rubber cushion there, but everything else was not acceptable to me. I put back my old jiffy stand and sold the shorter one. BTW it was made by Custom Chrome. Now that is a good question about lowering the front! What will happen to my jiffy stand operation??????
czissman- thanks for the exp.. i knew the order, but not the rec. bolt sizes. i just use red on everything!! my dad rides a 00 FXDWG, and as far as i can tell, you cannot. it seems the tubes sit on the upper tree, not in them. i know a guy who has lowered his, he had to get lowering springs.
Asuperglide- a few weeks ago i got bored one afternoon and decided to re-pack the head bearings.. in the process i dropped the lower tree, denting it neer the pinch bolt. so i sanded on it, grinded on it, and ended up smoothing it out, but i also discolored it, so i just roughed up the trees primed them and sprayed them black. while i was at it i roughed up the headlight housing, trim/retaining ring, eyebrow, and made some brackets to hang my new LP signals on, also sprayed them black.. one lil dent made me do all that.. HA!
kaduku- im assuming a "jiffy stand" is the kick stand, if you look in post #8 you can see i put a 2x4 under it, just to make it sit more level for the picture. front is lowered 2.25" and rear is a little more like 3" and the stand still works perfectly, actually better, i didnt like the way it leaned prior to lowering, too much lean, so i like it more now.

Kaduku,
Before Lyndell got the Bob she rode Sporsters and this is what I did to lower them as well and have never had any problems. The task is simple enough and if you are not happy with it go back to where it was. Cost you nothing to try.

Dennis, the kickstand is fine, I really don't notice any difference.
