I noticed the bike stood upright a little more when I installed my Progressive 412 11" shocks. I bought a shorter jiffy stand, and did not like it all. The bike leaned to the left way too much, like it was going to fall over, plus I could not locate the jiffy stand with my foot and as you raise the stand it would now hit the primary really hard. I know I can just put a rubber cushion there, but everything else was not acceptable to me. I put back my old jiffy stand and sold the shorter one. BTW it was made by Custom Chrome. Now that is a good question about lowering the front! What will happen to my jiffy stand operation??????

MUD and FyrFytrRyn, any comment!!!!!!
The stand worked out fine kaduku. Should be no worry for you.

good thread.
Mud and fyrfytr, both bikes look great!
Mud, now you gotta get the pic of your bike lowered as your signature pic!
Wally
Yeah wally, I agree.

Gonna wait a few days for that.

Bobtail rear fender and Vance & Hines ShortShots should be here on Thursday.
Profile laced wheels maybe here Monday.

Okay, another question. Everyone here seems to have done this job with the bike on a lift. I lowered the front of an old honda I chopped and I just left the bike on the stand, loosened the bolts until the tubes slid up, and tightened it back up. Of course, I was pretty reckless with that whole project, but what would be the danger in doing it this way?

While I'm on the topic, I changed the shocks on that bike with it on the kickstand too, with no problem. So can someone tell me why I shouldn't do my bob the same way?

Dennis, reckless is a key word in your query, but maybe not the right word.

Reck. Maybe. Maybe not. Post back results.

I changed the shocks on my Glide on the kickstand, that's not a big deal.
Didn't have a jack then, I use it for everything now.

Your Hog is quite heavy, and I'm not so sure about doing the front on the kstand.

Blocking under the frame with the scoot staight up would work.

Buy a jack. You will use it.

Okay, I knew it couldn't be that simple. I loosened the first three bolts on the triple trees, then the last one seemed to be slightly stripped already. I've never touched this bolt before. Had to re-tighten the three and abandon the mod (for now). I thought of using a vise grip then replacing the bolt with a new one from HD.

Any suggestions!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mud,

Here is a couple of pics of my new headlight assembly that I just installed. I had ordered the Kuryakyn front signal relocoation mounts as well,.... but they didnt show up when the light did. But the light dont look too bad for a $50 light,.... it was sure better than the $350+ that I had seen for some of the billet ones.

Kaduku, glad to help. I've always wondered the difference myself so I took the opportunity to visit the Loctite sight, learn a little and share it.

FyrFytrRyn, thanks for the info. I remembered after placing that post that my tubes don't slip all the way through my upper trees. I have already installed Progressive springs and a 1" lowering kit in the front, but thought the bike could still use a little more lowering. I might install the second lowering spring to take it down 2 inches.
