do u know what sort of issues the 78' has? I am pretty good with a wrench and I have a full machine shop at my disposal, so mostly all issues i can take care of. just curious. thanks for the input.
Starter goes out on a yearly basis, leaks more oil than any bike I've ever seen, head gaskets are a common replacement. He and his two brothers are actually Harley technicians, and own their own shop. Two of them are machinists too. They have rebuilt the drive train twice since '78(When he bought it new). 130k plus miles. So it has been ridden a lot, but also has seen a world of fixing, and rebuilding. He still rides it, but three years ago he bought a new Rocket III touring. That's what I see him on 85% of the time now. He just did a top end rebuild, and repainted everything on it. It looks fantastic, sounds....well, like a shovel head sounds, and runs real nice, for now. I'm sure you'll have a great time owning the bike if you go for it, but be prepared for a lot of work....IMO.
I'd be all over that! I know a guy with a 78 Low Rider, solid and reliable. If i had an offer like that on my GTO I wouldn't have been able to load it fast enough.
actaully... you haven't heard that Chevy! 400 small block wound up tight with headers straight into some glass packs. not to mention no interior to dampen sound, so yeah... no conversation in that either.
on the other hand, once she sits on the back of that vibrating shovel, i am sure that frown will turn upside down! hehe
