with a computer down the road soon in the after market.
I see that there's a power commander O2 sensor and gauge
on the market now. Wouldn't the next step be tie that in
with the fueler?
06 SG, couldn't be happier for the money.
Mine was about $235.
1st- Dobeck has a forum similar to this one with many tuning questions asked, and good answers given.
2nd- If you don't find your answers there, they have a very competent techical person, that you can call that will prescribe the proper #'s for your bike.
3rd- Telusion stands behind their product, and apparently has an excellent warranty/return record.
4th- The TFI is designed as a 'seat of the pants' deal. The units are sent out with all settings at #4. Depending on what your riding pleasure is, and how your bike reacts you adjust accordingly.
I had my bike on the dyno, and the guy who tested my Dyna has been doing this for over 25 years.
He had doubts about the TFI before the Dyno testing, but after he saw the results he told me I had an excellent product, and NOT to change a thing.
When he did the first run, he told me the reults were excellent, but I could stand a wee more enrichment on my air/fuel ratio.
He couldn't believe it took me all of 5 seconds to give him the extra fuel he wanted (seemed disappointed it worked so well).
Note: He sells Power Commanders for a living.
5th- I would highly recommend putting your ride on a dyno to verify your settings and give you a base for were your settings are in relation to what you want. Make sure you go somewhere they let you watch the whole process.
6th- Learn to read your exhaust pipes and spark plugs.
7th- There are settings you can adjust on the TFI to solve the back firing and poping problems, but the proper fuel enrichment settings are most important to preclude this.
8th- Remember you purchased a fuel enrichener, and nothing more. It was designed to overcome HD's inherent lean mixture tendencies, and accomplishes this task quite well, using the stock ECM.
9th- If you don't like the idea of playing around, and pushing a few buttons, you have made a very poor purchasing decision and need to buy a more expensive and technically advanced product that requires someone with the proper tuning experience and computer skills to make your bike perform well after you screwed it up by putting a full flow breather and louder pipes on it.
10th- The TFI is a completely undoable product. It does not require any special skills (must be able to read), does not force you to rely on a $250 dyno tune every time you make a minor change, and no computer downloads, or computer.
If you don't like it, just unplug and no harm done.
The TFI equates to rejetting a carb on a non-EFI bike.
Just my .02
