Default Rate the Techlusion TFI/DFO

I just wanted some reviews from guys who are using the Revtech TFI/DFO on a 06 Dyna.
Ease of install and setup, and how you like or dislike the product

I'll bite...

I'm satisfied with it. It makes a difference, it gets rid of the lean condition on the bike after adding pipes and A/C and it was affordable. Had I went SERT or PCIII, I would've felt pressured to get a Dyno to get the most out of them. I didn't have the funds to buy either with the added cost of a Dyno included.

Install was fairly simple even for a dunce like me. The instructions were easy to follow.

The only beef I have with it - and I'm talking about the 1340ST - is that the first level of adjustment (the Green stage) is practically useless. Techlusion themselves say you'd have to set it at 8 for it to actually do anything. And even then, it ain't much. That being said, I'm not exactly sure where on the RPM range that first level affects. I have no surging issues or anything so it's not quite clear. However, the rest of the levels definitely make a difference. I can shoot flames out my pipes if I so choose.

Bottom line, if you want a Dyno or will do bigger and better things to your engine, or, you only want the best for your bike, then get the SERT or PCIII. If you are just looking for a better alternative to the HD Download, get the DFO.

These are just my opinions...

Thanks I appreciate your input, I am not looking to create a monster bike, I only enjoy changing pipes, I had four sets for my Sporty, and now with the FI on my Bob I will need a little help, and I am thinking that the TFI/DFO, may be what I need, at the most cost effective way.

There is an upgrade available for the 1340ST and I think I'm going to take advantage of it. My performance has deteriorated since I installed the BCT Baffles. Deceleration has become troublesome. Apparently, this upgrade will give the user a wider band of fuel management in the cruise RPMs and will, according to George, have an entire setting that focuses on deceleration enrichment. I just have to send my unit back. If it doesn't solve my issues, I will go for a SERT.

The upgrade is free and turnaround is a couple of days.

And the $1,000,000 question...

Is it running better now without the DFO?

I have the Rev Tech DFO and I hate it.Back when I had money I thought it would be nice to have the shop where I bought my Thunderheader,SE air filter and DFO to just install and tune everything so I could just ride away.I work two jobs and the last thing I want to do when I 'm off work is fuss with my bike.Today my bike is back in the shop for the third time since installing the DFO.It backifires on even the slightest decel runs rough as hell at low RPMs and now has started to cut out intermitedly on accelleration.I have read through the instructions for the DFO 3 times and install seems straight forward enough but tuning or trouble shooting instructions are non existant. The DFO was recomended to me by three different mechanics who had nothing but good things to say about it so it's possible I may just have a bad one.But according to the instructions the low rev cruise mode is non adjustable and is controlled by the O2 sensors so I don't see much hope of it ever working right with this bike. Also the rev limiter is not adjustable so just when the bike starts running good you run smack dab into the rev limiter, nice.Lately this bike has caused me so much stress I think about selling it and buying something else all the time.

This is a new symptom I'm enjoying as well. Funny, I had just emailed Buggz about this same thing not 5 minutes ago. I'm giving the unit another chance with this upgrade and see what happens. I agree that the non-adjustable O2 range is where most of my issues lie. I hope they better this. I think the issues are limited to the 1340st, though. I assume the 07s will be using this same model since they've got the O2 sensors as well.

Yea I've owned and modified alot of bikes and 9 times out of ten as soon as you change the exhaust you start running into idle mixture problems I.E. popping on decel, surging etc. easy enough to cure with carbs but apearantly not so easy with the DFO. For them to ship these things with no adjustability in that range was idiotic. Also I've noticed that folks with slip-ons are having less problems than those of us with full systems.I have a friend who has an identical set up on his Eglide standard and loves it but the Eglide does not have closed loop FI and his DFO is a whole different animal with full adjustability from idle to rev limit.

It may have been just as idiotic to purchase one that has no adjustable O2 range. I'll make that judgement after the upgrade.
