I ride an '06 Wide Glide and have been looking at starting a rather big project. The project will include lowering the rear and changing both the rear and front fenders. I know most of the work that will be involved, but the rear fender I had in mind is a lo-boy (fatboy) style rear fender. I'm a little worried about the stock front tire looking too narrow for that style of rear fender. Basically I have 2 questions:
Has anyone put a lo-boy or street sweeper style rear fender on a Dyna with the narrow wide glide front tire? Does it looks odd?
Is it possible to put a slightly wider tire on a wide glide front end, or would I have to change the whole front end to put on a bigger front tire? I only want to go slightly bigger, think low rider or street bob.
I'll probably go with a sport or hugger style front fender if I am able to put a wider tire on there, otherwise I'm not too sure what would look best.
See my sig pic or my web site...YES you can go wider on the front, I have a 110 up front on my 05
I did have to change my fender, it was way too tight with the stock fender up front.
I don't understand why you are asking about the size of the FRONT tire and the REAR fender. Am I missing something? ... or have you never seen a chopper with a 300 on the back, and a little skinny tire up front?
Thanks for the responses. I wanted to make sure I knew what options I was dealing with before starting.
As for the rear fender/front tire thing, I've seen plenty of choppers with the big 300 rear tire and skinny up front, and I agree it is a nice look. Most choppers have the chopped rear fender like the new 2010 wide glides which looks really nice. Some of the rear fenders I have been looking at are more like the Fatboy or Softail Deluxe rear fenders which might look better with a slightly wider front tire. It's all just ideas right now, I just want to know what I have to work with.
I really like the look of Scott's 120 up front, it looks nice and really hugs that front fender well.
The hardest part of all these projects is deciding what to do...
