Yes, that's my main objective; to change the look with a round style unit. I am going to buy a round backing plate, now I just have to decide if I want open filter or encased with a cover, and if I should go with K&N or SE filter.
definitely the K&N as it is washable and the SE is not anymore. I switched mine out before I got the RSD intake.
I have had a coupla reputable mech. say to wash the S.E. filter but don't oil it.Any one had issues with this?
I did read the instructions from my first stage one SE filter that it is washable but not to use oil. I am wondering if it will last a while if it's kept clean.

I tried washing mine... did not work out... get the K&N... heck I'll sell you a brand new round one I have for 20 Bucks if you want it. Probably used for less than 100 miles. Let me know.
I got the S/E filter for my 02 around 2003, that's when the S/E kit used the K&N filter. Now the S/E uses a paper non oil filter. The problems I've seen was the rubber gasket deterioating over time. Both bikes have K&N wash and oil once a year.
