I recently bought a PC III USB for real cheap, it was a chance I couldn't let pass. The guy told me it came from a 2006 street bob.
Since I have a late 2007, I thought I'd be covered.
Once I got home I google'd the part number: 810-511
It seems to be for 2004-2005 models...
Any of you know if it will fit my late 2007? Unless the connector plugs are different, I guess it shouldn't matter?
Oh, and I hooked it up to my computer and it all works fine, so the unit is functional...
Does it have one grey connector ,and one black? If so check to see that they match by openning the fuse panel, unplug the grey and have a look. I just had a look on the fuel moto site and it seems they have three models one for '04 & '05 another just for '06 and then finally one for '07 & '08. '09 and up is the pcV. This might be interesting to people wanting to upgrade their firmware:
Firmware updating on a PCIII is only supported from firmware "Fuel 1.0.0.20/Harley 2.1.1" and up.
Ofcourse mine has 1.0.1.19 which doesn't support a firmware update (you will know if yours supports is once you try to update, it will just fail). I looked into it and you need a special part p/n #HDREV to update.
The bad thing is you only need this kit once to update to a firmware which supports updating. After this you won't need it anymore (unless you want to help people update their kits).
In general the rule is: "if it works don't update the firmware".
